Eurostar's move from MRI Planet to MRI Evolution highlights practical priorities: usable mobile workflows, contractor management, integrations and better defect reporting.
Eurostar's move from MRI Planet to MRI Evolution is useful because the reasons are operational rather than abstract. The company described unstable in-house servers, compatibility problems, slow logins and reporting that did not meet its needs.
Start with the user experience
Eurostar plans to use Evolution Go so end users can submit job requests and receive real-time status updates. The basic point is that a CAFM system must be usable at the moment work is raised, assigned and updated. A technically capable platform will still underperform if users cannot follow the process consistently.
Contractor control and evidence
The case study also points to contractor management. Eurostar expects the Contractor Management app to help notify contractors of new tasks and support its supply-chain processes. For an FM team, the useful outcome is a clearer record of who received the task, how it progressed and what evidence was returned.
The software supports that process; data ownership and governance still determine whether the resulting record can be trusted.
Build for change
Eurostar also highlighted APIs and improved defect reporting. Estates systems rarely operate alone, so integrations need controlled reference data, agreed ownership and a clear purpose. Better trend information is valuable only when asset, location and work-order data are structured consistently.
For organisations reviewing MRI Evolution, the practical questions are straightforward. Can users raise and update work easily? Are contractors included in the workflow? Can data move safely between systems? Does reporting show where defects and delays are recurring?
That is where QES focuses: helping organisations assess the information, workflows and governance around MRI Evolution so the platform reflects the operation more accurately. QES does not replace engineering or statutory accountability; it strengthens the CAFM evidence and process those responsibilities rely on.
